I agree on first select the woodworking projects and goals that fit for you.
I think people should not be a Tools Collector but a woodworker. Then you can choose a small set of woodworking projects, maybe taking ideas from books, and then buying the tools you need for them.
Another reason is that making things you can realize if those tools are adequate or not.
